Dr Kylie Brownfield is a Melbourne-based Clinical Psychologist and sole practitioner at The Mindful Clinic. She has a special interest in supporting clients who find themselves in emotionally abusive/narcissistic relationships (either romantic relationships, or within the family or workplace). Kylie also has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, and in particular supporting neurodivergent families.

Originally from New Zealand, Kylie was awarded her Masters degree in psychology from the University of Otago in 2001 – prior to moving to the UK where she worked as a Research Fellow in psychology at London South Bank University. She spent much of her 20s travelling on a shoestring budget before heading to Australia to undertake a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Child, Adolescent and Family) at Monash University. Since this time she worked at a number of public hospitals before establishing her private practice, The Mindful Clinic in 2011.

Kylie now sees clients two days per week so that she can balance her time with her young family. She works largely within an ACT framework combined with interpersonal therapy. Kylie’s style is gentle, empathic and neuro-affirming with an emphasis on nervous system safety and healthy attachment. Her methods are trauma-informed and biologically oriented to assist clients in their wellbeing journey.
